Dispositivos Virales
Workshop and research
In collaboration with/project started by Citlali Hernandez, Nuria Nía, and Silvia Bernard.
The Viral Devices Laboratory arises from the desire to identify, through design and collective experimentation, the possible changes in the uses of everyday devices, as a consequence of the impact of Covid-19 on daily life. The research is part of the node "Online/Offline Spheres. Between bodies and spaces connected from the COVID-19 pandemic", in turn registered within the "Act in the emergency" program coordinated by GREDITS (BAU) and the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.
This website houses the instructions and traces of use of the five viral devices developed during the laboratory carried out between January and July 2022 at Hangar.org. Each device has the function of recording possible changes or adaptations between our bodies, spaces and connected devices in the context of COVID-19.
Currently, the Viral Devices Laboratory is formed by an open group in which we have participated: Marta Barceló, Silvia Bernad, María Costa, Laura Florez, Georgia Scavo, Marina Gómez, Citlali Hernández, Roger Guilemany, Josefina Nano, Núria Nia, Yanna Robles and Claudia Romero. It has had the support of Matics Barcelona in the Híbrides program.
As a result of the project, a paper has been published in November 2023 in the magazine Materia.
